Carradice Saddlebags

The one downside of the slim is the lack of external pockets which I occasionally miss. It's a good bag though.

Just a reminder that the ones with a logo plate like yours work really well with the clip light attached to that instead of the nylon strap - much more secure and on my bikes, a much better angle.

Got a bagman for my (very old) Carradice the other day.

No name inside :( I think you'd call it a Cadet going by measurements, but there's no mention of that anywhere either.

Nice, approximate year purchased?

I have absolutely no idea! I'll have to ask my Grandad who's passed down the bag (and the Hetchins attached to it) to me.

Kind of looks like a 70s font, they can sometimes be dated if you look at the actual address that's sewn onto the bag (if it's still there) - always in Nelson, but moved to different streets over the years.

Had a look, it says
"Carradice of Nelson
Nelson Lancs England"

In that case, according to the site below, it was made in 1983 or later.

Thanks :D, That sounds about the right age since all the parts on the frame (1938) are from the mid 80's except the bagman, saddle, and mudguards.

camper longflap here, almost two years old. Commuting twice a week. Carrying a laptop so heavy usage.

I have an Original Roll, currently being used as a handlebar bag. What's the best way of making it more rigid, anything I can put inside?

I've used coroplast (plastic cardboard) on an old Camper to protect the fender.
Just cut a piece to fit 'round the interior or you can bolt right through it if you're careful and use rubber washers for waterproof integrity.

Is there a variety of Carradice saddlebag that would hold a laptop (13” mbp) for commuting?

I am new to this.

I use a carradice camper longflap (with qr system) for a 15" laptop.

An sqr slim was advised by Margaret but I liked the camper more.
