I really liked the Panaracer Evo D this past winter. Grippy and great puncture resistance.

Running 35mm tyres in (supposedly) 42mm (actually 38mm) tyres & not had any pinch flats that I wouldn't have expected anyway (hitting massive rocks).

Apt timing, Road CC reviewed them today https://road.cc/content/review/260560-specialized-s-works-turbo-2bliss-ready-tyre

They read my tanwall gripe https://www.lfgss.com/comments/14715138/

Anyone have any experience of Pirelli Cinturato Velo TLRs? Apparently they roll well considering how good the puncture protection is but maybe thats just because they were tested tubeless and I would run them with tubes. Fancy trying some other than gatorskins for commuting
-

I switched to duranos for commuting and haven't had any more punctures but they're way nicer than the gatorskin hardshells I'd been previously riding.

are marathon supremes (thinking of 27.5 x 1.6) still the go to commuter tyre?
-
• #6284
No but I have Michelin pro 4 endurance tubed in one bike and they're amazing so far.
Don't use tubeless tires tubed, you're adding more rubber to an already stiffer and heavier tire -
• #6285
I've used the Mich Pro 4 Endurance quite a bit since they got rid of the model I used to use the Pro Optimums. Like them both.

What do the Continental Sport Contact tyres ride like? I hope they'd be similar to Hypers, is this the case?
-
• #6287
I've never ridden Hypers, but I really rate the Sport Contacts. Roll really nicely.
-
• #6288
They don't feel too much like a hybrid/commuter/Marathon/Durano Plus type tyre? A bit of give in sidewall? #notquitesupplebutwilldo
-
• #6289
More similar to gravel kings etc. Roll nice on road, grippy and good on gravel too. Not as fast as a race tyre but not like riding through treacle.
Really rate them myself.
There’s a lot of give, they’re quite soft -
• #6290
Sounds cool. I think I'll give them go now the only Hypers Planet X have are brown.
-
• #6292
I wanted to try the Hypers too but haven't got to it yet.
The single only downside to the Contis are that there isn't a folding version so they could be lighter. Otherwise I cannot fault them. -
• #6293
got a sidewall rip in my front corsa going downhill at speed last night, was v scary, only done about 200km as well. quite pissed off.
might get these as a replacement? https://www.planetx.co.uk/i/q/TYSCONE/schwalbe-one-performance-700c-folding-tyre

great tyres! get them.
-
• #6295
How? Did you hit an edge or something? Running enough pressure?
-
• #6296
I've no idea. I was going quite fast but I could see in front of me, but the lane was quite pot-holey but I couldn't see any glass or other debris. And yep, inflated to 90psi (Corsas in 25 flavour).
By the time I stopped and took the tyre off there wasn't anything embedded in the tyre.
Basically that'll teach me for using nice-looking but ultimately fragile tyres.

Deffo ask for a refund on that as a manufacturing fault. You can see you've done barely any miles on it.
(Thanks for the headsup on the Schwalbe One offer. Bagged in 30mm to run instead of Hyper 35mms, as they appear to be discontinued and can't face the brown ones!)
-
• #6298
Aye, Merlin who I got them from have shrugged it off as "probably something sharp got caught*" but have thankfully passed it onto their distributor.
*I think this is bullshit, I was riding with 16 others, no one else suffered anything and yeah, there was nothing which obviously caused the tear.
I have done some reading up on those Schwalbe Ones and they seem really well-regarded, I might get a stash of them!

Special tanwall ones available in Australia only.

Yeah but that's how flats normally happen. It only takes one sharp edge to flick up. You don't normally get a bunch ride where all 10 people puncture. It could've been cut earlier and only let go on that ride too.
Thanks.
I am also looking at Panaracer Evo D tan wall
