• Yes, the rim brakes are Magura - a joke about them is that they were the 1st ones that Chas ever fitted, and of course being a techie, I never trust the 1st one out of the gate - so he promised to get us back from Austria , which is where we were going if anything happened - we rode Vienna - Salsburg - Vienna.

    In fact, we ran out of brake blocks before we came down the last pass and so had to take a rather long diversion to avoid a steep descent, learning the German for brake blocks along the way and getting the line in bike shops "oh, that is a lovely tandem" and "no, we do not stock those I am afraid"

  • You'll still find plenty of Dutch and German trekking bikes fitted with Maguras HSxx (and of course trials bikes), but the HS66 levers were very niche and I don't think they were made for very long, so quite collectable as result. A niche added touch on that bike for sure!
