I made a DIY one with two old valves, a 1.5l coke bottle and some duct tape. It worked, but the bottle could only take about 70psi before it started leaking / I started browning my pants, so it struggled with really stubborn tires. I now have the topeak version with is much better and goes 160psi+ no problem.

The selfmade inflator with a plastic bottle bodge is perfect to produce an ear shattering bang without explosives.
If you're more careful than me, it might work nicely. I will probably need a hearing aid one year earlier because of that incident.
Also if tires are stubborn you might need a lot of air anyway, so a compressor is always the best way.
Couple of questions:
Looking to get some tubeless vales for my 50mm CN carbon wheels - will 60mm valves work, can't find 70-80mm in stock anywhere that aren't a fortune.
anyone make a DIY tubeless inflator? like the one above?
