If you like it, by all means do spend some time and money on it. I've just done it on a 20 year old frame too (but I had most of the parts, and it's steel). All I'm saying is if the riding - as opposed to Instagram likes or forum kudos - is your goal, be aware of the actual ROI from your new bits.
Find some good wheels. An external BB crankset is also money well spent. But if you're considering spending a grand on a Record groupset to transform the ride, just be aware that it just won't. I also would also advise you to try out something like a Caad12, or a Bowman Palace R, to give you an idea of how much aluminium frames have improved in the last 20 years.
Is it too cheap to bother building up? I’m totally in the dark about it to be honest. Just seemed like a responsive alu frame, must be 20 yrs old.
