PhilDAS learns to glue (mostly) metal

I’m using Cycle Design USA for both and they both rinse off with warm water and a brush pretty easily. I do have a bit burnt on around the headtube though which is a right bastard to get rid of

Boiling water straight out the kettle and then leave it soaking in it would be my advice.

Slow progress but got fitment done on the seatstays, will braze them in tomorrow along with the bosses and then it’s done

It has details though there's no porn yet. Its been a learning curve and the feeling of having something which is nearly rideable having had a box of tubes a few weeks ago is very satisfying.

This one has been literally brazed in my kitchen, it is remarkably straight for having been done with no jig or fixture, just by eye. Time will tell how it rides. Next one will be considerably better though I reckon.
Gonna put a jig together and bash out something else, maybe a gravel frame or just a single speed for ease, then after that for practise I might build @chrisbmx116 a commuter/all road/gravel thing if he's willing and brave

Nah man, quite the opposite for me. I can easily go look up some swish brazing. What's more interesting is the progress and seeing people learn and develop. That's pretty cool, and massive salutes for going at this DIY style.

@chrisbmx116 needs to bloody well wait then. This'll be way more interesting than his rambling hunt in the gravel thread.

I think even big manufacturers have tolerances of several mm for straightness, seems like you've done a great job

Constantly changing his mind, I believe he's now set on a Rychtarski. But I be he's checking his lease for rules on open fires in the living room now.

I mean if you want a custom frame, sure it’s easier to buy one and it will definitely be way better than one you can make yourself.

Being able to make yourself any bike you want though. Hardtail? No problem. Cargo bike? Sure thing. Brakeless track bike with 2” 650b tyres? Why not.

I fully agree, and I'd do it if I had the space. I'm sure it has also crossed @Tijs ' mind, but now I know him personally for a couple of weeks that was my hunch as to why he hasn't done it himself.
