• Would probably want clearance for 700x45 max, only just started thinking about it. CDF is this at the moment, Yorkshire roads are terrible so 35/38 tyre like voyager hyper is loads better than 23/25/28 road tyre. CDF a bit heavy, mainly due to the wheels, but does the job well. In 2 minds of whether I keep or sell my Donohue 853 road bike, it’s so fast but only clears a 23 at the back. Decisions decisions.

  • @Phildas Nah fam, I'm talking proper monkey business, none of this gravére with 33mm tyre wankery.

@TM Yeah, It's same reason I got rid of the CAAD. Apart from infrequent rides, I had no use for it for riding I wanted to do as opposed to forced myself to do. I've never really explored any of the UK's national parks, which is absurd, so the next bike will be made just for that.

    Sticking to 700?

  • Yeah, can’t see myself ever wanting bigger than 42 on a bike like this... I don’t see how 650b would benefit me.

Fast road bikes are fun to ride sometimes though if you can afford the luxury of keeping one for a few outings a year.

I’ve done some pretty rough stuff on the cdf with 38c GKSK, really enjoyed it, more like how MTB was in the 90s, regularly out of the bikes comfort zone.
