  • I'd still have my down jacket and rain jacket but I'm thinking tight, close to body clothing. It's not working for me. That's kinda why I rode through most of winter in shorts and tshirt to see if I could get used to it. I probably could but it was the lack of food that did me in I reckon, not a lack of layers. Maybe I could use a pair of tights with short socks and lose the warmers/guards and then I can back the ankle zippers off if I notice any rubbing. I could also buy another pair of those arm sleeves or maybe just go without until it gets real cold.

  • Make sense to change kit if not working.
I didn't used to wear arm warmers, mostly because I found the grippers irritating. What I did instead was carry a long sleeved jersey. A bit more bulky but more comfortable. I remember I used one on pbp in 2015.
After that I got some arm warmers I was happier with so ditched the Jersey.

  • I wore some arm warmers with a grippy bit at the top for the entirety of a 300km and oh my god it was awful, my arms were so achey I couldn't believe how painful it was. Have since got some merino-y ones without any grippers and they are so much better
