just bought a Moda track bike and I wanna put a front brake on it.
Okay to drill the forks, right?
-
• #123108
The standard forks are carbon, so do it very accurately and use a pillar drill.
-
• #123109
I do not have A pillar drill. I may still give it ago tho

@π_Card is on the right track. People have drilled the stock Moda forks, and the ones I've seen are pretty obviously road forks which missed the drilling stage at the factory, but if you have to ask for permission on here you're not qualified to do it. It would be better just to buy a road fork and use that for your road riding, then when you sell the frame you have an intact fork for the new owner and your parts bin still has a spare road fork for the next time you need one.

Never asked permission. Just asked if it's been done before, which it clearly can be so I'm going too.

Work being very sound and letting me use their warehouse to store my bikes.
Thankfully they haven't found the colnago I have hidden in the other corner!
Maybe it's time to start my own build thread hmmmm..

New workstand arriving today. Excited to change from an 8 speed to 9 speed shifter in relative comfort

RIP 2x
Thought I could get away with road cranks since the BB is only 68mm wide (1990ish Muddyfox Pathfinder) but it looks like it'll have to be a single chainring if I'm going to use these cranks and a fairly small one at that :( -
• #123119
I've run Shimano Hollowtech II road cranks on a mountain bike frame with a couple of mm spacing on the drive side. It worked with no problems and gave me just the right clearance.

• #123120
Slightly embarrassed about how long it took me to work out that the reason why the chain was jumping on the 11t sprocket was because I had a 12t lockring on the cassette. Traded a decent chunk of the morning for several grey hairs.

Spacers at the spindle or the chainring tabs? Not sure how the former would work but the latter is definitely a good shout for fitting a larger 1x chainring, thanks :)
Might have an issue with chain line, but then the rear hub is 135OLD sooo... -

Sorry to post this on Current Projects but we are getting desperate! I work in Apex Cycles in Clapham, nice independent shop, and our new mechanic fell through so we need someone to start ASAP! We are willing to take someone on and give them some training so long as they have a basic knowledge of mechanics and can hold a spanner! Full job listing below:
