Missed this but yeah, good innit??!

My wife's birthday is in a month. Current thoughts are:

Noble Rot
Trullo
Luca

We haven't been to any of them. Any others to consider?

Modern Pantry is about the same pitch I reckon, different culinary direction though.

I've been to Anglo a few times and always been impressed.

Have been there - it's nice. Delicious and interesting in the same way that pretty much all Szechuan restaurants in London are.

Went there for her birthday last year, it was great!

In two minds really. Yes, but with the caveat that if something was really outstanding I would have a look. I looked into Cornerstone (for example) but they were booked up already.

NR - most excellent, but perhaps a bit "gentleman's club" vibe?
Trullo - food is very good but I found it all a bit staid
Luca - Lovely setting but food better at Trullo

I love Prawn on the Lawn if you're in to seafood. Salt Yard very nice too, although that may be because we got very very drunk

I thought Portland was of a similar ilk to Anglo.

Can recommend Nest in Hackney... had an amazing meal there last week and fantastic value

Second that. Their sign and branding is painfully bad, the food is great.

Was a bit underwhelmed by Casa Fofo. Felt like a fancy meal, just not quite there somehow. Too many little bowls.

Need a suggestion for something special (~£100 pp inc booze) for a Monday lunch in a couple of weeks, was going to visit the Clove Club but it doesn’t open until the evening on Monday, grrrr.
