At the next hearing he gets to enter a plea. I know next to nothing about the court system - but what were they doing yesterday if nothing has actually happened?
Isn't it that a case has to be opened formally, even if it can't be proceeded with straightaway? Lawyers need to be hired and prepare, the court is busy, etc. It's probably a bit like a timetabling session.
According to this article it went to court yesterday and was adjourned till 4th of June:
