Regarding paint - why not just leave it as is?
I think the OD fork looks great with the raw frame.

It’s currently got a very thin lacquer.

I need to touch a file on the dropouts a wee bit to finish them and I don’t want to faff in a few years..

As phildas says, rust never sleeps. I want a powder coat.

Black, dark grey, green have been suggested.

You're right.. Powder coat seems the way to go.

Might I suggest RAL 5001?
