Evening all.... New here but been riding my commuter pompino for 2 years... Keep snapping my seat posts (I like to think my bollocks are just too heavy)... Riding with sds post and seat. Anyone experienced this? Anyone got any alternative post and seat arrangements I could consider?

Hold on, you keep snapping the seatpost...how? from the seat clamp? the saddle rail? etc.

I noticed today that I’m getting a bit of rearward deflection and juddering under heavy braking with the crosscheck fork on my Pomp.
I have a Steamroller fork too that I thought I could try on it but I guess it’s unlikely it’ll be much better eh?
Guess if I want stiffer then I’ll probably have to go carbon.

Does it move on the drop out?
-
• #7681
Yeah, the whole fork flexes so the dropouts sort of judder back and forth.
I’ve not noticed it before. But was riding some pretty steep switchbacky descents today so was braking more heavily than normal.

Double check the drop out, I found it usually the drop out being the main culprit, I reckon you know what to do next (check face, different QR etc.)
-
• #7683
Yeah like Ed says: that's not normal. Are you very heavy?
-
• #7684
Hmmm, I’ll have a look but it’s a nutted wheel and the movement is even. Like both sides move together.
-
• #7685
Nutted disc wheel? Do you have a QR one in handy?
-
• #7686
Crosscheck not Disccheck, I’m using a canti.

I’m using a canti.
Lengthen the straddle cable.
-
• #7688
Yeah?
I’m using a fork mounted hanger as I know they usually have less judder than stem
mounted, didn’t know straddle cable length could have an effect too. -
• #7689
The judder originally cause by the distance from cable hanger to brake, reducing that reduce judder, in some very rare cases ven a fork mounted cable hanger may need a longer straddle cables.
Now that you mentioned the fork mounted hanger; other case it can flex and result in judder.

Not according to that article.

You’re quite right, I misinterpreted the way it was written.
-
• #7697
It’s quite confusing isn’t it?

On second look its fairly obvious I think, I was just being a spanner the first time, and actually it's more obvious now I'm looking on a laptop and not my phone. I first saw the "ON HOLD" and just assumed everything below that was on hold, duh.

See 5 posts above
Yeah, have heard that. Currently mine is running a 130mm shoved in with no issues in about 4 years, wonder if they sorted it withe the v4. Do worry another 5mm could be pushing it though. Winston Vaz came back and said he'd need to take a look.
