FS: Dura Ace C50 Wheels (10 speed)

  • For sale are my last pair of 10 speed wheels. Originally supposed to be sold as part of a complete bike but the purchaser only wanted the F&F so hence this sale.

These are the C50s from a few years back - the 7900 series - but I bought them as NOS about 18 months ago, and they have seen light use since then. Aluminium rims with a carbon faring, more details here:
    http://thebiketube.com/reviews/review-shimanos-dura-ace-7900-c50-wheels

They are shod with a pair of conti attack/force tyres, which have seen better days but still have some life in them. Cassette is shimano 27-12. Hubs run true and smooth and the rims have loads of life left (see pictures)

SOLD. Available for collection in N21 or King's Cross. Don't really want the faff of posting at this stage

  • 0 views so I'm guessing little interest from the forum. £425 price drop bump before I shift to ebay

  • I'm sure people have viewed them - the system just sometimes takes a little time to update the numbers.

You're about right on price, it's just finding that buyer looking for 10 speed. Is the freehub convertable?

  • I watched this yesterday, so the system definitely didn't update.

There are a lot of 10-speed wheelsets for sale (although they are seldom in as good condition as yours), if you could find some info about converting the freehub it will definitely give you an USP.

  • I had the C24 version, they did sell on here a couple of years ago but the price was a little lower. There was no hub conversion so it has to be a modified cassette.

  • There's also the Edco cassette and 10+11 lockring but you're looking at £190.

  • Thanks for the info all. I hadn't realised that there was a delay to the read stats so that's useful to note. Appreciate that 10-speed, rim brake, wheels are something of a niche in today's market!

I don't know enough about the various freehub swaps (exploded diagram of the hub is here: https://si.shimano.com/pdfs/ev/EV-WH-7900-C50-CL-R-3136.pdf). Seems like machining it would work, but that is something of an agricultural option. The option based around 11:10 speed cassettes seem exorbitant! Will give it a few more days and see if there are any takers.

If anyone has a lot of time on their hands, then there is a long thread on WeightWeenies https://weightweenies.starbike.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=115919

  • Hi there
Are these still available? Have you had a rethink on the faff of posting? If so I'd be interested. I could pay by bank transfer.
    Regards
    Stuart

  • Or to make it 11 speed compatible buyer can fit a Shimano 105 R7000 (stamped CS-HG700) 11-34T cassette without spacer for £34.99

  • nic(h)e wheels.
One could add that the fairing is actually structural, as the nipples do actually pull on the carbon.
Making them a truer carbon offer than mavic cosmics for instance, which are actually ksyriums with an aero shell.
If i was interested in doing fast laps around regents park year round, that's what i would get

  • Ooh, that's interesting! Is is only the 11-34 that this works for? Seems quite hard to get hold of but other blocks are available

  • Yes, only 11-34t and Ultegra R8000 11-34t. Readily available with the online retailers and ebay.

    Some other solutions here...
