I've been doing that for the past few months, armed with a dandelion digger - Slow & steady, and there's very few there any more.
The soil is loamy, but full of stones & crap. The spiky shoes sound like fun.

Raking out the moss and reseeding will certainly help. Aerator will help if your ground is super dense/compacted but I know lots of our customers have had great success just with those spiked overshoes you can get. That and just lots of mowing. Dig your weeds out instead of dumping Monsanto crap all over the shop...
