Or Quarq thought that Powertap were the future?
-

No idea. But it means they've got options in the PM world now.
I need to get one of my old Powertap hubs built onto something for Oz. Just not sure what. Given the amount of use it will get, probably something cheap and durable in 32h. Oh, brainwave, I could use the 65mm Light Bicycle carbon rim that gave me all that grief.

Other half needs 165mm cranks.
Bike has a Praxis GXP adapter with Rival 22 crankset and a SRAM Stages GXP.
Rides SPD pedals.A few options;
- Changing the BB to Praxis Shimano + Shimano 105 crankset + 4iiii (£490)
- SRAM Rival crankset + GXP Carbon Stages (£££££700+)
- Quarq Dzero crankset (£509)
The Quarq allu seems a no brainer but it's just a bit weighty. Not sure the Red is worth £200 to save 200g. Have I missed anything? Can't do pedals, can't do hub (rides multiple wheelsets).

1 and 2 aren't real options in my world. Component weight is of almost zero consequence unless they're planning on spending the majority of the time racing up steep climbs.

Long shot, but...
I've got a Quarq DZero with 170mm alloy BB30 crankarms. Does anyone have any other 170mm crank arms for it? The fitting for the spider 8 bolt, rather than the regular SRAM 3 bolt. BB30+ or GXP would be absolutely perfect. Alloy or Carbon, whatever.
Otherwise, does anyone want to buy a 0km ridden, unfitted, but fiddled with crankset? Comes with box, all the spacers and everything as described above. £375?

Has anyone converted a Shimano Powertap SL (or any 15mm axle older style non G3 model) to Campagnolo? Did it just require a new freehub body or did you also need new end caps and/or spacers as well?
Reusing the old end cap here and it doesn't look correct and seems to bind to the freehub body. First image is the new campag freehub 2nd is the shimano freehub...
Does anyone have any experience here? @cycleclinic?

the new 4 pawl body will bind unless you use the axle sleeve that comes with it. it not the end caps.

just spotted this, anyone have any idea what they are like? would be nice to have a power meter that could be switchable between bikes easily. I'm guessing they wont be super accurate for that money

just spotted this, anyone have any idea what they are like?
I refer the honourable gentleman to my previous remarks.

too good to be true is never to be trusted, the tightarse in me wanted it to be great.
Does anyone have a stages dura ace 9000 175mm they want to sell me instead.
-
• #9287
Also, there is no possibility that the stated method of measurement will actually work as a power meter.
-
• #9288
Just a guesstimate based on cadence speed and rider weight? I'm already out!

Iq2.. rip.
Reverting to pedals.
They are claiming to be working on the first mtb power pedals which is more interesting to me..
-
• #9290
They are claiming
They were claiming that backers would have been using a universal adapter to use any pedal and crank for 6 months by now. People really ought to know by now that a new PM project on a crowd-funding site should be treated like any other Nigerian prince.

Indeed and all they appear to have are some CGI prototypes, having these ready and working by August is again pie in the sky!

I’m trying to find subcompact chainrings for a gxp dzero hidden bolt.
Any suggestions? -
• #9293
I don't think they exist sadly

Hmm annoying, a more general question does the inner need ramping to match the outer?
Ie could I get this and a 34 inner?

non-hidden bolt would be easier, no?
-
• #9296
Well even then I cant find something suitable...?
-
• #9297
Simple trigonometry says you can't go below 34T with a 110mm bolt PCD
-
• #9298
TA managed to squeeze a 33t onto a 110 PCD

does the inner need ramping to match the outer?
Completely plain (what the teenagers would call "singlespeed") chain rings work fine as the inner ring. The chain is either lifted off or dropped onto it, unlike the outer which has the chain smashed into it sideways and is expected to take it from there
-
• #9300
TA managed
There's always some smartarse who mentions that, but it doesn't work with all cranks unless you're prepared to get the files out.
Wonder if this is why there are still no signs of the G4 hub going on sale
