You've always been able to do that. The issue is uploading routes to the device when your phone doesn't have any network connection at all.
Don't know if that now works. I suspect it may on the new device as it has a routable map but not on the old ones.

I think as long as the route can be accessed by the elemnt app (e.g. you've made it in ridewithgps and the elemnt app has some form of network to access the route) you can still Bluetooth it to the device without a WiFi network. This still seems to work on my old elemnt.

Best thing about the new Wahoo is that the App has been updated for the original units as well. Used to be a bit messy to get a route onto the unit without wifi, but now you can sync easily via bluetooth from your phone.
