  • Holy shit, that looks good, can't beat BBD!

  • A Vegan shortcrust pastry, made with Stork, recipe shouldn't be hard to find.

    But it is.

I just want to make an apple and rhubarb pie.

  • Equal weight Stork for butter?

  • Keep everything as cold as possible, crumbling it together becomes really awkward when the "butter" melts.

  • And it's half fat to flour, crumble it together, then add water slowly until it becomes the right consistency.

  • Thanks both :)

  • That looks good!

  • If anyone's in Brighton and fancies some lovely vegan chicken burgers go to the bok shop! (don't work for them but I got a Stuart request for my own order so got £4 back lol)

  • I haven't tried the vegan fish and chips from Sutton & Sons in Graham Road yet, so I thought it might be an idea to go there tomorrow before having an Easts at the Chesham. Anyone up for that?

  • Meh, got to work late tomorrow. But at least have a bike now.

  • @kl forgot to mention after the last forum visit to Cook Daily a couple of weeks ago but the Grime related t-shirts were not hung up around the place anymore so I think you were right in your assumption that they were related to the earlier closing hour when we went the first time.

  • So much vegan news--let's start with the bad:

    http://fatgayvegan.com/2019/04/30/support-vegan-business-attacked-by-trolls/

I always think that this sort of thing is a rearguard action, showing how desperate some people get because they're losing the argument. Be that as it may, it's a pathetic stunt.

Forum visit to Essential Vegan? They're open until 9 most evenings, so it might work for us in a similar way to how Cook Daily at Boxpark did?

  • The anti-bullfighting party in Spain didn't win any seats in the general election just gone, unfortunately, but seem to have created quite a stir. It's difficult if you're a single-issue party, anyway.

  • fuck Facebook pledge but massive shout out fir essential vegan. I coffee and cake there at least once a month. and eat there properly on a more infrequent basis. Will certainly be getting in there again soon

  • What a pack of childish cunts. The YouTube comments (never read the comments) are even more depressing.

So, just had a trip away with 10 long days in the saddle, and come back with saddle sores - what are the recommended vegan saddles out there for touring? Is the Cambium worth the money?

  • Is the Cambium worth the money?

Debating the same question at the moment.
I read a lot of good reviews.

Actually I'm pretty sure it's worth the money, for me the issue is more that they really do seem to eat up your jeans very quickly due to the "grippy" nature of the material used - although I haven't understood yet whether all of them are so "sandpaper" like.

  • WTF was that? They are fucking embarrasing inbred cretins who deserve to be involved in an Inglorious Bastards baseball bat scene, every one of them. I've not watched something that's made me so angry in a long time.

  • I use a specialized power saddle and it suits me but I'm a woman so have different squishy bits. It's made from synthetic materials so could be worth trying to see if the shape suits you?

  • I like my Cambium. but it's obviously not just the saddle, but also position--I take it that it wasn't your new (beater) bike you rode on but one that you've adjusted well/had bikefitted?

It's said that you have to 'break in' leather saddles whether a Cambium 'works' right away--don't know if that's propaganda, though.

Do you know what sort of saddle width/shape you need? There are quite a few C varieties on offer now. Some you wouldn't get in most bike shops but would have to order, I think.

  • I use a Specialized Romin and really like it. Have toured with it and used it for 10+ hour Deliveroo shifts, several times in a week before. I'd reccomend trying one but it just depends what fits you though!

  • Also, I'm off driving a band on tour starting next week, if anyone has any reccomendations for places in any of these cities let me know! (Excluding Paris and Berlin, I'm not with them for those dates).

  • Spesh saddles also seem to suit my arse and all seem leather free.

  • Another vote for the Romin.
