That depends on the rider. A lot are happy to use whatever they are issued by the team, but many will try and use their preferred equipment that’s been rebadged.

And an established team leader has a lot more leeway than a neo-pro.

Yes, but at the same time, they're not being told to ride tubeless are they? Even though it's one of the hot ticket items right now.
Also, you must know that I know using pros for part choice is a bad idea? It's the fact almost none of them choose to use this new tech combined with all the other stories from normal users that puts me off.

Looking for 700x30 tyres for my roadbike, does anyone have experience with Vittoria Rubino Pro G+??
-
• #6206
Challenge Strada Bianca is the 30mm tyre I would use again. Oh I am. They are lovely.
-
• #6207
I found they were a bit stiff. Waiting to get my hands on some 30 Corsas.

The last few pages of this thread has basically become the "saying the same things about tubeless tyres over and over again" thread :(

Needs more merge.

Help!
Currently have 47x203mm (12 1/2 x 1.75”) and need something smaller such as a 35x203mm (slick), any ideas?
Now sorted with a 10” wheel!

Ritchey Alpine JB. The difference between comp and WCS is 'Stronghold', what is this?
-
• #6212
Be bold, strong hold. The way you like it.

Sorry, that was possibly a bit niche

I've got the WCS, not sure about Stronghold, but tyres are very good. -

Any 20" slick-ish supple tyre recommendations?
My wife has an Orbea Katu e-bike which she absolutely loves but the crappy roads and cobbles of Edinburgh are beating her up a bit. I'm wondering if something more supple than the 2.25" Kenda Kontacts might help a bit - that is if i'm even right to assume that they are a pretty stiff tyre to start with...
There's plenty of space up front for something wider and a wee bit to spare at the back.

Ah, alles klar!

20x2.35 Schwalbe big apples?
-
• #6217
You ever try those tubeless? I love them, but they don't come in tubeless. The G-Ones are nearly worn out and looking to stay on 30mm.

What’s the closest thing I’m going to find to a GP4000 in tan wall? i.e A fast tyre that’s also remarkably durable.
-
• #6220
Vittoria Corsa G.
A similar amount of durability to GP4000sii (if you considered them to be remarkably durable).
-
• #6221
Yeh that was what I was thinking, although the general consensus seems to be they don’t last very long, certainly not as long as 4000s.
I consider them to be remarkably durable for what is essentially a racing clincher.
-

Check Corsa Control G2.0 then, they last longer, it supposedly feel identical to the standard Corsa but with additional durability.
I already order a couple in 30mm.
-
• #6223
Sounds good, I’ll check those out, cheers!
-
• #6224
Worth keeping in mind Veloflex Masters.
Not sure anyone would call them durable, but they don’t seem totally out of line with GP4000 judging from the rolling resistance review and they come highly rated in other regards.

Check Corsa Control G2.0
SNAP! Was hunting for a new 30mm tyre and these look great. No tan wall though.
yea ofc. not disagreeing with bigger is less aero all else equal. i just think it is a relatively small difference outweighed by what it buys you.
maybe i misunderstood you. i was merely disagreeing with the notion that wider means more crr. the advantage is not bottoming out, better traction, less risk of flatting. but you already know all of that.
and sure. we can rehash this in a few years then :D. someone ran the 30mm tubeless s-one at roubaix a few years ago didn't they?
