Very intrigued to see how these ride. Very tempted by one

I've seen some with parallel legs like this, might be easier to adapt.

I think it rides great, honestly can’t really tell too much of a difference from riding a regular bike.
Will do a big shop at some point and report back on how it feels with a load of stuff on it.
if you see me on it feel free to chat and have a go

We have a normal human powered Bullit with a Gates and Alfine 8 setup also with the canopy and seat. Girlfriend uses it every day to drop off the little one on her way to work and she loves it (both the girlfriend and our daughter). I am having trouble claiming it back, she uses it for everything!
Have been thinking about a solution for widening the cargo bay in the summer with custom polycarbonate panels and machined inserts. But have been super busy at work so have not found the time to draw somthing up in CAD. The inserts will be largely based on the original ones and I still need to look at panel options. If there is any more interest for these bits it will bring the price down a bit.
For reference, the parts that need to be custom for widening the floor:

Perfect for my kids ! :)

This looks quite professional, yet don't the kids get sick riding backwards all the time?

Tempted by a Bullitt but my kids are 3 and 6 too, wondering if I’m going to get enough years’ use out of it based on what you’re saying...I’d like them up front ideally.
Otherwise I’m thinking of something like a Workcycles FR8, but then there’s less capacity for carrying shopping etc.

Do consider the Xtracycle, but the kids go behind you not in front. These bikes seem incredibly popular for ferrying kids and you may get more years of use before they outgrow it.
It’s no box bike, but with all the optional accessories it seems very versatile. (Same is true of other the longtails, Yuba etc)

The concept is to remove the seats quickly, I can turn them 360 if wanted. Many configurations. One seat and other stuff, front to front..ect...

As a product designer i have sent a presentation to the Chef designer at YEPP//Thules few months ago!

Oh yeah they do look good, I'll see if I can test ride one.
Was also looking at the Babboe City but put off by all the reviews saying they're a bit cheaply made and need reinforcing.

I’ve been thinking this for ages so I’d be keen to pick up a set. Have you got a rough idea about costs already?
Which panel do you mean, side or bottom? My plan was to use the original side panels and bottom and then add either fabric or some kind of board material in the gap between the now wider sides and frame

I think a bullitt will be handy in our family for years. Our kids now ride alongside me until they’re knackered, we then get both kids and bikes in a pile on the bullitt and continue the journey.
Once the kids are big enough to ride everywhere themselves I’ll use the bullitt to carry kit, food, bbq, etc for outings.
I’ve got a rough idea on how to strap two kids bikes to the side of the box, gonna give it a go as soon as I have some spare time

No idea on costs, but as soon as I have time to work on it I will make a thread in CP. Don't expect a finished product though, I need to keep it as cheap as possible. :)
I have also thought about strapping stuff (stroller or a pushbike) to the sidepanels, but that would just be a couple of machined slits in the poly carbonate to put some lashing straps through. Maybe with reinforced brackets that go up to the side from the attachment points, but need to think it through.

Bullit specific stuff is ridiculously expensive for what it actually is in my opinion. Making a DIY wooden box is super easy if you've got access to some basic tools.
Here's a pdf with some instructions some generous person uploaded to the net.https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BxG-CQ_7ATpPLXhNOWw4bFlVd0E/view
However keeping it simple isn't my style so we got cracking in the Fista cave a few weeks ago with my bro @bankiren working on this. It's made from 100% recycled materials which is a bonus (read free). Needs a pass with the heatgun and then bolting everything down with round head bolts and rubber u channel placed all around the metal frame. It'll also have a panel on the right side to hold smaller objects and some attachment points to strap things down and attachment for my kids balance bike. It's work in progress but I like the industrial look. Weight isn't too bad either 5,6kg all in but it'll end up closer to 6kg with all the hardware installed.
I've also cut some standard side panels, similar to the OEM ones, out of an old road sign and some other wooden ones. It's good to have options, right?

A bit more than that! Rhino your better off getting it direct from them, their website isn't great but they do keep their facebook upto date. The side by side arrangement is the most useful IMO, two medium sized kids are going to be fine in that with leg room that could be taken up by shopping/gear/a doggo.
We ship inside the UK (only) for free though if your handy building it yourself.@Emyr, volvo fixed! Running like a bosse again and now with even larger anti-roll bars, so its no longer a semi-permanent deconstructed art installation within the workshop lol.

Thanks, was thinking that, but with the mods necessary maybe the flat backed pizza one with custom L-brackets may be more secure. If complicated, would prefer to just have a mount made rather than mod and ruin that type of one. It’s definitely nothing too urgent, I have so much space on the back of this monster even without the sidecar.

Your post has got me considering options for DIY'ing something bread-basket esque. I have been thinking about one for my Mundo for ages but can't justify the cost. If I come up with anything I will report back

Maybe some rock solid L-brackets for shelving of some kind? If they could link to these kinda Steco’s it may work out.

@nev We have Larry vs Harry foldable seat and canopy on our Bullitt, and our kids, 4 and 7, can still squeeze in the front together even with the top closed. Not too much fighting either :)
Having a big cargo bike has been great, thoroughly recommend it.
