I think the sport of cycling needs more stars, and one who doesn’t fit the existing mould is especially interesting.
He’s a breath of fresh air in the sense that he is very selective in the races he rides, he’s currently competing at the top level in three distinct disciplines and he’s active for most of the calendar year.
No-one knows yet what his long term career will look like, I think there is a high expectation that he’ll focus on road racing but, so far, he’s not indicated that’s his personal goal. If he chooses to drop CX or MTB will that impact on the type of rider he is today? Would riding GTs reduce his explosiveness?
We don’t know, so I think we should just enjoy him for what he is, a super talent who dabbles in road racing.
