  • Yeah, but developing a product and running a business costs money. Not to mention quality control and guarantees.

  • anyone want to buy it then?

  • Your sinewave?

    I'd be keen!

  • Quite a bit more than I was hoping to spend, but cheers!

  • Ahahaha ! Fail.

The website is so old, but the product works fine !

  • I’ve got one, seems fairly well made. I haven’t really put it through the ringer but I did email the guy who makes them a fair bit before buying asking about waterproofing, heat buildup on descents etc and failure rates and he seemed pretty confident in it, he said they’d had no failures thus far.

If I was going to be using it extensively in all weathers I’d be tempted to strip off the plastic shell (if there’s a weak point then the plastic outer case is it) and coat the components in epoxy or similar, some of the other units are built this way and it pretty much makes it indestructible.

If you want the email conversation (I’ve just looked and it’s more detailed than I remember) drop me a message and I’ll fire it over.

  • Anyone got a spare Supernova E3 Triple 2 kicking about? I ordered one in Mar and it still hasn't arrived :S

What about an Igaro or a Sinewave you're not using?

  • I have a Supernova E3 Triple 1, and a Sinewave Reactor (USB topcap), I will sell

  • I’ve a blue Sinewave Beacon, but shipping from the land of the Septics.

  • How does the Triple 1 differ from the T2?

  • Thanks but need it quickly. I'm probably going to go (shock, horror) with my old battery lights and battery packs given timeframes.

  • Well inthe long run if you want it let me know. I was supposed to be in Cambridge in two weeks, but have to go to TX instead. May be back in June?

  • Triple 1 - 550 lumens
    Triple 2 - 640 lumens

    I think that's it

  • I'll see what I end up doing. I've already ordered the light back in March they just failed to tell me it was out of stock when I did so, so I'm kinda loathe to buy another light due to someone else fucking up but I might do it and dynamo another bike up. I do like the idea of the Beacon though.

  • Out of curiosity, how much do you want for it and more importantly, what colour is it? ;)

  • Black, £100

  • Cheers but I got a discount on the Triple2 so think I'll just wait for it. I have a good collection of (hiss) battery lights that will get me through RaTN at least. The Germans can't be that slow making a light can they?

  • Just set up my exposure Revo..

Used a boost converter to step the output voltage up from 3v to 12v and installed led tape on the seat stays, works pretty well!

  • Awesome, any more details on the converter set-up, for an electrical n00b?!

  • Yeah, it most likely won't work with many other lights as most front lights output to the rear light are AC.
(I think the Supernova E3 & Sinewave beacon also have DC output.)

You'll need a soldering iron and a voltmeter (or multimeter).

First I bought one of these:

£3.50 instead of the £13 Evans cycles want for an exposure branded cable

Then i soldered the cores to the input side (DC in) of one of these:

    £1.50

Then connected the plug to my exposure revo with the exposure connected to a wheel in a truing stand. Spin the wheel and get a multimeter and measure the voltage coming on the DC out terminals of the booster. You then turn a tiny screw on the booster to adjust the output voltage to 12v, (the booster can deliver anywhere from 3> 24v.)

I then soldered the cores for the two led strips to the DC out terminal, in parallel.

    £1.50 per strip.

The led strip is self adhesive, I put insulation tape top and bottom.. will see how it holds.
I also just put some heat shrink on the cores for the led tape and covered the booster in insulation tape, there's probably a neater way to do it, but it doesn't look too bad.

Total cost for the rear light set up £8.

  • The Beacon is supposedly AC, David gave me a resistor to solder in line to the rear light when I wanted to use a Supernova rear light. I couldn’t get it to work with the resistor, removed it and things worked fine.

  • Their website says DC

  • That’s weird, David (the owner of Sinewave ) told me the only lights that the Beacon wouldn’t work with are Supernova’s due to them working with DC. It’s why he gave me the doo-dad to solder into the rear wire. But that makes sense why it wouldn’t work, but I removed it and it worked fine.

  • Incredible description, thanks very much. Need to do some investigating and learning!

  • a bit OT
I saw this fork in another thread https://www.rodeo-labs.com/shop/forks/rodeospork/. (model is the 1.2 dynamo revision).
Have you find anything else as spec'd as this one? (e.g. double internal routing, dynamo light on the crown, fenders, rack etc)
    thanks
