• The nuggets are great for stuffing frozen into a large Kong when you leave him

  • He's great with chicken wings.

I think if we do switch up to Paleo Ridge we won't feed him any veg at all. From what I have read, as long as you rotate the type of Meat/bone/offal you feed, you don't need the veg.

The Paleo Ridge complete food is anything between 40% to 60% of the price of Natures Menu depending on whether you are ok with the smell of tripe or not.

  • It’s our first one. I grew up with dogs but haven’t had the full responsibility before so have been reading through lots and learning stuff that I’d never really thought about before

  • whether you are ok with the smell of tripe or not

Which is the clincher for me

  • Otto was our first also. He is 2.5 now. Wouldn't change a thing. One of the best decisions we have ever made.

  • Puppy is now with us and at the risk of cursing it, has been an absolute dream so far.

Told us when he needed the loo on the car drive home, has taken to his crate straight away and slept the whole night with a couple of scheduled loo breaks. A little hiccup before we picked him up yesterday as he managed to get into a bottle of cooking oil but all adverse effects appear to have left him before we got there

  • Show off.

  • That's what I posted when we got our puppy.

  • Very aware that this may be the honeymoon period

  • Even if it all goes to hell, you'll look back on it so fondly!

  • Late to the thread but on the subject of raw I buy from Durham Animal Feed. Ours is fed a mix of minced green tripe and an oily fish mince. It comes frozen in 1lb blocks

  • Bet that smells lovely!

Cheers, will add to the list for when we make a decision.

  • I have a separate fridge for it and once opened it’s in an air tight box. Tbh he eats it pretty quick, and since he’s moved over to green tripes his flatulence has massively reduced. So smellier in but far less smelly out = win

The oily fish is good for joints and his coat, no idea on the joint effect but his coat looks great and is nice and velvety.

  • Was hoping for pics of @MrSweary 's pup

  • Yes! The lad has been with us about a month and is awesome. Been a dream, good recall already, sleeping through in his crate (thanks Mark!) and not weeing on the floor, mostly.

He's been super good with our daughter, which hasn't always been reciprocated.

Took him out in Rye on Monday and couldn't walk more than a few yards without people stopping us to coo over him.

  • I'm not surprised. That look ...

Will he always look like a bit of a Womble? :)

  • That what a proper poodle looks like!

  • Going to keep him looking like a teddy bear. He's a hilarious ball of fluff at the moment but getting curlier by the day. Will probably end up a sandy colour too like his mum and dad.

  • Very glad to be through the housebound stage and allowed back outside now that vaccinations are completed. Had a pretty solid weekend of getting him used to pubs and meeting lots of people. He’s been great so far, just need to do a bit more training in bite inhibition when he gets overexcited, any tips?

  • With our pup, if he bit us too hard, we made a loud sound of pain, stood up and turned our back on him for at least thirty seconds. Worked a charm for us...

  • Mouthing and nipping is very normal for pups, particularly the staff in him, and he'll grow out of it. Reggie is 10 months and doesn't do it with me at all, but still does it a bit with my teenage kids - but he doesn't see them every day.

What Stonehedge said - just don't give him any sense that the nipping is a game. Ignoring is best, and be consistent.

  • Just to agree with Mark, its totally normal. In fact, our grown whippet will still play with us by lightly mouthing our hands. If he gets too rough we have taught him the command word "gently" which he obeys perfectly. Can't remember how we taught him that though!

  • What a cutie. We're doing just as Mark and Stonehedge suggest - seems to working. We also substitute a chew toy for skin if he is just mouthing. He should be starting to lose his puppy teeth soon so I imagine it will get a worse for a bit.
