Lots of riders use Garmin at mcr. Sometimes folks leave sensors on the rear hub of hire bikes, must be pricey forget.
The rule in mcr is it is ok to collect data just blank off the screen (either out of sight or covered up) & ensure it is securely attached to the bike.
