That was good.

Maybe he wanted a team less in the spotlight

Best single day race in years.
Absolutely unbelievable finish by MVP, he was a level above today.Rebecca Twigg article is horrible. She was a genius and world champion.
Everything must have gone completely wrong for her life to fall apart.
Maybe because she grew up in such a structured environment in the Olympic Park she could not deal with the freedom she had when she left cycling? -

I bet Gorka Izagirre kicking himself now.
-
• #20931
Holy fucking shit - never seen anything like that before

Who was it came across to make a group of 3? Kwiatkowsiki? I didn’t have commentary on highlights! That was impressive enough, I thought that was what you were all raving about.. then boom! Epic finish
-
• #20933
That was brilliant.
That is the sort of ride we need right now.

Yes.

Amstel. Crikey.
Clarke picked the right wheel...
-
• #20936
Tbf it looked like Alaphillipe and Fuglsang slowed right down when they should have known the bunch was closing - they would even have known Kwiatkowski was right there...weird

He seems nice - articulate and bright. Did he just say that Alaphillipe said he was “fucked”? Lol

Already looking forward to the worlds in Yorkshire.
Is he riding it? Given the focus on the Olympics next year, and the test event the weekend after the Road Worlds in Yorkshire, it wouldn’t surprise me if he skipped it. I read differing views on his road schedule for the rest of the season too, some are saying that he’s done with road racing for 2019 now, others saying he’ll do some races.
-
• #20940
Given his status his team could rely on invites to the big races without issue if they wanted?
-
• #20941
Turn up to the Tour, win the first stage and leave on stage 2 in a wave of glory
-
• #20942
...oh and btw, the women’s Amstel was a better race than the men’s. Great watch, really glad to see it televised.
-
• #20943
His road season is done, next up is mtb Albstadt in 5 weeks.
What I heard is he already talked about the worlds with the Dutch squad coach this winter, the course suits him.
I think we (better yet all pro cyclists) may need to rethink what is smart/possible training and preparation wise, this guy puts the tables upside down
-
• #20944
I think Sagan could do with switching up his training, as he has the same characteristics, but looking a little stale this year.
Winning some CX races would probably get the fun back into his riding. -
• #20945
He said himself earlier this month that he's off form and not feeling 100%: he got sick training in the Sierra Nevada before Tirreno-Adriatico in March and seems to have had trouble bouncing back.

• #20946
What's MVP like on a TT bike?
-
• #20947
this guy puts the tables upside down
He’s gonna get the shit marked out of him.
-
• #20948
I think he has had the shit marked out of him all classics season, such is the hype machine.
Especially when journalists ask the favourites what they think about the danger of MVDP.
-
• #20949
Hmm. Not sure. Known threats like AP, Sagan and GvA would have attracted the bulk of the attention and I’d have thought things will have been spread pretty thinly due to insane level of talent in the peloton right now. But yes will be interesting to see how things develop now that he’s got a big one in the bag. It’s gonna be awesome to watch anyhow.

More powerful contenders spread out between the teams should also loosen Quickstep’s grip on the classics.
Having said that, quickstep winning hasn’t produced boring racing, so add a host of younger talent coming through, and it looks like fantastic racing for years to come.
That was mental. He is something else
