  • If I put non-dryable merino/other sporty fabrics in the tumble dryer, will I damage them in less than 5 minutes?

I slept under a tarp in the highlands and got a bunch of tick bites (not my best idea). They were crawling around on my sleeping bag, clothes and so on when I had to pack my stuff up. I don't really want them living in the flat or on my stuff (although they should only live a couple of days indoors). I read they can survive the wash cycle but will die within 5-6 minutes in the tumble dryer, so I'd like to kill them off that way. But don't want to ruin my clothes. Ideas?

Low temperature will kill them, and is less likely to damage fabric. If you have a deep freeze (❄️❄️❄️ -18°C, not just an ice box) that should do the trick. A few days below -6°C is supposed to be fatal, but I'd give them a week at -18°C to be absolutely sure.
