I second that emotion.
Not wanting to get ahead of the race for the final two Champions league places.
But we’ve got a lot of transfer work to do in the coming off season, to make sure we can sustain the momentum of the last couple of seasons.Eriksen is probably leaving, as is Toby, and llorente, need to move out janssen, n’koudou, Wanyama, if he doesn’t come back to some sort of form and reliability.
So need an attacking/passing/creative midfielder, a holding midfielder, central defender, back up/rotation striker and another pacy winger/attacking mid. Probably need a box to box midfielder as well. And if one of aurier/Trippier goes a right full back on top of that.Lot of transfer action and lots of money to get some of the players we’ve been linked to. We could be helped by chelsea’s upcoming transfer ban, and the fact Man City could be in the same boat if the der spiegel revelations are acted on. Could leave the field open for us to swoop on some coveted youngsters.
But pochettino and levy need to pull the trigger. And us getting this close to champions league glory, but breaking down in the league despite not buying anyone for two transfer windows, could be the impetus.
But what do I know I thought last season levy would pull the transfer trigger and all we got was him playing chicken with villa for grealish.
Had chances to get a result today. Son especially, had runs in on ederson and forced him to make saves when you’d think he would have put it in the back of the net.
City were well up for it. Got quite testy at times.
Felt we were better than them second half, might have been with de bruyne off injured, only real attacking danger was Bernardo silva.
City seemed really open today, not sure if our familiarity with them means we can see the openings more clearly, but son and moura’s pace on the counterand runs off the shoulder of stones and Laporte, onto balls over the top, seemed to set them clean through every time..
