  • With modern day eating whilst watching TV, plate in one hand and fork, no wait spoon, no fork in the other I felt I should check out sporks. There's three here. The one on the left is a Robert Welch combination of spoon and fork. I have provided a close up pic of the Ethos one in the centre to show the serrated left edge. The one on the right is a lightweight hard wearing plastic one, made by a Swedish company called Wildo. I was specifically looking for a cutting edge, but I have found that cutting is good either way because cutting with a serrated edge requires the food to be held still whilst cutting which renders the whole spork thing a bit pointless unless you use a left digit or use an additional fork. This could of course change out in the wilds/backwoods where I think the Wildo spork could come into it's own. The Wildo would also work best for soup, so I think for your bike-packing could be best supported by this one.

The Ethos spork is the one I expected to be the most useful, but is actually the least useful one for me.

The beautifully balanced and smooth Robert Welch spork is a pleasure to use when eating foods like a nice pasta or rice dish. It also cuts fairly well by just pressing the side through something like a sausage with no problem, thus not needing a serrated edge. This is the winner for "lazy home TV viewing / pie noshing".
