What about peanut butter... that hasn't actually got butter in it so should they rename that as well?

Nor me!

Unbelievable semantic hair splitting by pseudo-meatflake industrialists, worried that at some point down the road their barbaric, bullshit reign of terror and hypocrisy will crumble like so much oat cakes. Fucking discs.

When we crash out of the EU without a deal at the end of the week, we can take back control and call our veggie burgers whatever we want again.

One for the Dutch vegans on here; I had a Beyond Burger at Hudsons last night. It was the best veg burger I’ve had in the past year of trying many different options. The vegan mayonaise they served with my chips was really good as well.
Couldn’t tell the difference between the vegan and the non-vegan one, neither could my colleagues.
Nice to have this option ‘cause burgers are a reason I still eat meat once in a while... -

This is how to counter the boring 'why do you want fake meat, just have some tasty vegetables' argument. There are people who like burgers and would be perfectly happy with a vegan option - and puritanical arguments aren't going to wash. If we can make what they want without harming animals, just do it.

Agreed - not wanting to promote harm and suffering doesn’t mean I don’t like the taste/texture/etcetc. I no longer find bbq smell so appealing, but I am putting a few quid into Iceland since those no bull things arrived

Just got back from 4 days in SanFran. I gotta admit I was expecting to be overwhelmed with choice but was left wanting. Went to LovingHut, every bit as good as the Archway branch and Donut Farms stall in the ferry building was ace too.

Bump for Wednesday--6pm at Cook Daily in London Fields, with optional Easts at the Chesham afterwards. You'd have to put up with kl and myself, possibly jonny and mespilus.

Does anyone have any great ideas for protein while camping/backpacking?
- beans, legumes are not ideal as they either contain too much water/come in tins (-> too heavy to carry), need cooking/soaking for hours (not really practical), or need a dehydrator (I don't have one)
- fake meat products, tofu, etc. needs refrigerating
- nuts are fine but you need to eat quite a lot of them and they restrict your "cooking" somewhat
- grainy things like cous cous are great but the protein content is quite low

green lentils cooks pretty quick, that and rice is a complete protein.
Tofu products last for days out of a fridge in my experience.
quinoa is spendy but a good choice for protein -

Protein powder. Mix it with spices and couscous/noodles/dehydrated veggies. Makes for a quick and easy meal.
Smoked tofu and seitan last about a week out of the fridge.I normally don't worry about protein on trips shorter than 2 weeks. It's not like you'll fade away in such a short time.
there is also the more visual one: bloodmouth. It doesn't go down well with them though haha.
