  • Change the colour and loose the game bag, much cheaper and functional

  • What alternative is there to the Game bag that is similar in size, connects to the block, and looks nice?

  • Yeah thought about that... Not convinced...will look around. Cheers, though.

  • I may be old but I’m not that old

  • Also ditch the dynamo. I am a huge fan of dynamos, but just not necessary for a Brompton. Extra weight, plus IMO the lights are too low. Light on the bar and seatpost gives you greater visibility.

  • When I see bromptons with dynamos I think they need one of those flags people put on their recumbents

  • But you fancy a game bag?

    Carradice are much nicer IMO!

  • I am with Dan for dynamo on brompton, I did it, didnt see the point, adds quite a lot of weight.
Ideal if doing long distance/touring though.

If you are set on a dynamo anyway, get SON.

  • Do Carradice attach to the block on the front?

  • Yes, just get a Brompton frame.

Look at the city folder - sjs have discounted

  • This is the carradice range: https://www.carradice.co.uk/bags/commuting-folding

One of the reasons I bought game bag was because it was half price in Evans ; )

  • I’m going to use the bike infrequently, the appeal of the dynamo lights is that I don’t need to have remembered to charge them, or fit them- the bike always has lights no matter what I have or have not done.

I CBA to roll my own setup/rebuild the front wheel/etc. I’ll likely just slap an SMP on it and call it good.

  • For the Carradice bags I’d need the front rack thing?

  • I reckon dynamo on Brompton is a good idea, and this reason is a part of it. Like the toolkit and the pump, means you can pick up the Brompton knowing that everything you need is there without having to collate bits and pieces from other bags .

Ive got SON but with the SP setup the weight difference from reflector only is something like 250g, so barely worth thinking about.

You’ll want to upgrade the front lamp as the standard one is very disappointing.

Carradice bag you need the appropriate luggage frame to fit in the bag, then it clips onto the block same as an official Brompton bag.

  • Do you order the luggage frame with the bike, or with the bag?

  • You order the three items separately.

  • Agreed, I got the dynamo option on mine with the upgraded front lamp. Always there, one less thing to faff with, it's all part of the appeal of the bike for me. A lower light fitting picks out the irregularities in the road better also.

I'm getting old. These days I think a non-race bike w/o a dynamo light set and guards is missing a trick.

  • Pros/cons of the RJT rack vs the Brommie own one? Does it make the bike as stable folded? Looks like it's a fair bit lighter, but will need to buy easy wheels, and it doesn't have an obvious place to mount a light/reflector?

  • It’s less than half the price, comes in 2 colours and mudguard/no guard options. It’s slightly wider and much lighter.
As stable as the OE one.

    Looks much nicer..

Any Qs, ask, this is a product I manage..

Reflector / light placement isn’t amazing, but that low isn’t ideal IMO regardless.

  • This. A thousandfold. I don't have to think about what I am wearing, what is or isn't on the bike - it's just get on and go.
TBFair - I don't have a diamond mo. But I do have a Hope Vision 1 lamp with permanent residence in the C2 bag and a Cateye permanently affixed to the underside of my Joseph Kuosac saddle. It works.

  • I just have the 300 and a saddle mounted light. Both last for many hours, my Mrs has identical and we have cateye lights for other bikes only been caught short once to date so I’m happy without a dyno.

For my commuter I’ll be having one, simply because day in day out use in the winter, one less thing to worry about.. cleaning the bike and kit is enough

  • Went for this at the end. Local FB marketplace seller. New with tags albeit she said she's used it to bring bike in India. Maybe they had two. No idea. It looked brand new to me. £100, bargain.

  • I've a signed copy of Tom Bogdanowicz's London Cycling Guide. I've known Tom and his family for the best part of fifty years.
Also - some nice camera bodies there.
