Not uncommon for running events to charge what seems an extortionate amount. £40-50 for a half marathon is becoming normal. Capitalism/greed innit?
Keep an eye out for smaller local events run by a running club/rotary club/LDWA/etc and you'll likely find they are a load cheaper for essentially the same thing.
