I've got the same thing. Been to the opticians a number of times to get it tightened (can't see enough without my glasses to do it myself...). Been meaning to get their opinion on it but can't see a tiny bit do any harm. Unless it reacts with the acetate?

Yeah, the hinge itself is all metal (ray ban wayfarer) so a bit of thread lock shouldn't get too much on the acetate.

Also: can the gray milky discolouration be polished off the acetate with autosol?

I think you can rub them with acetone, but I'm not sure. That's what my memory says but a quick google says not. Conclusion seems to be to polish and oil to get the shine back, bit it has tp be done every few weeks
