  • Youthful exuberance

  • Finally shows he is mortal though.

  • Oh crap it's going to be Gilbert isn't it

  • It would please me if any team besides QS would win this even if it means more caffeine shampoo commercials

  • Why wouldn’t you want Gilbert to win?!

  • gilbert yessss !

  • Was a bit of a joke - nothing against Gilbert. #wolfpack

  • Punching the air

  • Yaaaaaaaas! Love Gilbert.

  • Sagan's bike sounds like a bag of nails

  • Fair fucks, Gilbert was so strong.

I felt like Lampaert was the strongest rider in that group until he faded on Carrefour, but then he came back like a beast towards the end which put a lot of pressure on Pollit - nothing he could do at that point. Superb teamwork.

  • Betancur won a sportive, Phinney got blanked by his mechanics, I’m full of beer and Bombay Mix. What a wonderful day all round.

  • And 4 DQS riders in top ten. Impressive

  • Checks betting app

    I had 80p e/w on Politt. Oh.

  • Attack in the feedzone. We OK with that?

  • Why should I? Always a little queasy when Gilbert wins

  • I just like him, he won me over with that earring

  • Betancur won a sportive

The only true believer. We bow to you, Mickie Cricket. :)

  • Surely now Gilbert ranks as the finest classics rider of his generation? That’s 5 x monuments, 1 x Worlds, 4 x Amstel, 2 x Het Volk, 2 x Paris-Tours, 1 x Flèche and multiple stage wins in the Tour, the Giro and the Vuelta.

I thought it was a cracking race yesterday, the way the front group ebbed and flowed, with someone looking strong one minute, then vulnerable the next made it hard to pick a winner. Gilbert and Sagan looked strongest and I’d counted Politt out, when he launched that searing attack on sector 3. Gilbert did amazingly well to get across to that.

  • Surely now Gilbert ranks as the finest classics rider of his generation?

No chance, he's won far too many non-Classics. :)

And has he ever won the Cobblemonster? Of course not.

  • Dynamics may also have been different had VanMarcke not had his mechanical issues and WvA not had to chase back on 3 times after mishaps.

Gilbert looked arguably on of the strongest in the classics last year, but played team mate to his ‘wolf pack’ winners.

Doubtful he’ll be able to claim MSR, though stranger things have happened...

  • Because his ex-teammates called him out for doping?

  • I think one of the great truisms of Paris-Roubaix is the winner is both the strongest and luckiest. Really felt for Vanmarcke.
