What happened to Van Aert in Arenberg? It looked as though he went off the road but then couldn't get back up to speed again.

he changed his bike after that to one either with or without elliptical chain rings so must have lost his chain or had issues shifting. listening to the french commentary so missed a bit of it

Shifting issues, seemed to be unable to shift down.

I think that was the extent of it. Looked like he had a mechanical initially but I think he was just struggling to get on top of a big gear.

He’s going to get back in but he must have burnt some matches riding across.

Fuck passing cars with a 2ft gap on cobbles at 45kph.

just changed again, had a teammates bike that was too small, now got his spare and crashed...

Madness with the team cars as per. Something should be changed because the pave is difficult enough without having to avoid being run off the road by some pumped up rally driver wannabe DS.

EF team car drove right past Phinney who was waiting for them to fix a mechanical. Don't blame them to be honest. He's probably swapped his bike for a penny farthing and is off to score

To be fair to the drivers, riders take some crazy risks to try and move up.
