• I'm building up a 1953 Westland of Exmouth frame that has narrow rear dropouts - I'm not keen on cold setting the stays.

Whilst I have a suitable sized 27 inch wheel with a Campagnolo hub the biggest block I can fit without fouling the stay is a 4 speed ideally with the largest cog being a 26T. I have found one but it turned out to be French and won't fit.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

  • Worth checking out Hilary stone if you have not already?

  • Already did thanks - he only has French threaded ones or they're too small.

  • Hi Shaun,

I have not seen 4 speed freewheel blocks before.
    3 and 5 speeds yes.

I have a 5 speed gearset from a 1982 Motobecane Mixte which I am confident is BSA threaded.
I will did it out and measure width for you

  • I should imagine it has English threads though it's probably best to check first.

  • I have one but can't remember if the low gear is the right size to meet what you require. It is English threaded though. If you don't already have one by now, I can try and dig it out.
