Growing Wailys in my veg patch

I woke up to find a mouse munching on Fabric's biscuits this morning. Our neighbours have been riddled with mice for ages but we've been clear of them, presumably because of the fact that we have a cat.
Lets see if 10 year old Fabric steps up his game!

Hope you have better luck than I do. Dizzy has her own catch and release programme - she catches mice at night in the garden and then brings them into our bedroom.

Our guy used to be an exceptional mouser in his youth but has grown lazier the older he gets.
We once had a squirrel walk into our living room and stand about two metres in front of our cat. He was dozing at the time but opened his eyes, looked at it and then closed them again pretending he hadn't seen it!
I suspect the mice have worked out that he is no threat.

Need to sort insurance out for my little'ish one(he is 1.5 years, neutered and not insured yet). Pet Plan seems ok for sub 20 quid a month? any suggestions are welcome. Any judgement on the no insurance yet thing is ok as well....I would have paid what ever was needed without having insurance(not rich, not even middle class, just have some savings)

NO to John Lewis and their underwriter, can’t remember which but they do pretty much all the supermarket ones. No claim still double the premium year on year. Mine went form £7 to £11 to £25... and I only made a claim for about £800. Between £7 to £11 and no claim between £11 to £25 and I said no to £25 and fuck you.
Pet Plan is good, they have good relationships with loads of vets. Patch had to have her tooth removed last year, about £600, got it pre authorised and got money within a week after the op. I mean the vet was efficient too with paperwork.
One tip though, I know your kitty is only young but pay for the most expensive plan you could afford and go down if you need to in the future. Once you have made a claim, you won’t be able to go up regardless of the nature of claims (ok, maybe some exceptions).
I made this mistake when Patch was about 2 and went with JL on their cheapest plan with £3000 plan, made a claim for about £800 of a one off condition, and they wouldn’t allow me to change plan.
Had a long chat with Petplan on the situation and they told me the same thing, however small the claim, once you have made one, it would be hard to go up with your premium but you can go down all you like.
I pay £24 a month for a £12000 a year plan with pet plan, excluding the condition claimed with JL, still worth it. Made a claim with pet plan near the end of the policy year and only saw premium went up by about £2.

Thank you! That helps a lot! Looks like Pet Plan is the way to go after comparing with others.

History repeated itself last night, the same mouse is now somewhere in the bedroom I believe and Patch has gotten bored with it now!

What kind of excess does that have? I’ve looked at insurance again but it doesn’t really add up for me - nearly all our vet visits would be under the excess and that on top of the annual cost means an expensive visit isn’t really improved either...

My current Pet Plan policy? £80 per a claim per a year, so chronic condition would be £80 a year until she turns 9 or 10 then it’d be £80 plus £20% of the vet bills. Or is it 10%? Can’t remember...
I did consider going with the lower plan which would give me £7000, but it was less than £3 a month difference so I thought why not as like I said, I could always go down but not up.
For me, it is still worth the money as Patch has had 2 operations 1 was £800 or so and 1 was about £600...

I just went through a claim process with "Healthy Pets" following Lolas eye surgery. They paid up with only admin questions asked. The excess was £100
Were a fair bit cheaper than Petplan, but I went for the bronze coverage. I'll be looking to upgrade to silver or gold at renewal though as the bronze coverage is £1000 which we diced a little to closely with for my liking.

My cats doing exactly the same at the moment.
Always a 2am playtime, she looses/releases it and spends the rest of the day moping around waiting for it to re-emerge

How long has she been keeping her pet?

Has anyone got any experience with cat sitting from https://uk.catinaflat.com/ ?
-
• #9044
3-4 nights now
It's the first time she's done it since we moved house. She used to catch and play until they'd die in one sitting. She either is getting bad at recapturing or it may be the new environment

I am beginning to wonder if I should feed my pet’s pet? I’d rather not have a rotten mouse wedged behind somewhere unreachable.

• #9046
Yeah we found our cat sitter there. She's been great.

Yes, have used it 3 times (2 different people) now and have had really good experiences. Will use again.

Thanks both. Will crack on

She used to bring them to me dead, I've woken up with her and a dead mouse on my chest.
I think she wanted me to fix her "toy."
Either that or she thinks she's my mother
Hendricks is ready for the day ahead...
