  • Definitely not those new Seiko dive models from the previous page that have now been removed.

    Not those.

  • The ones with the ugly dial font?

  • Cheers @inchpincher and @freddo for the birthday watch suggestions.

What you've said backs up what I suspected.

I already have a vintage Omega and I'd really fancy something a bit bigger than that which rules out a lot of the vintage dress watches like that Tudor (nice as it is). All the older stuff I fancy at the moment (a 70s Speedmaster or a Rolex Turnograph at the moment) is at least double the budget.

  • But they’ve not requested you remove these pics?

  • $17k Citizen Quartz

    (Admittedly accurate to +- 1 sec/year)

  • How long until the battery runs out?

  • Never! Because it's Eco-Drive. White gold, too.

  • so the rolex thing still strikes me as odd/stupid.

rolex could easily make enough pieces to match demand OR raise the prices. As it stands, a lot of inbetweeners are making the profit instead.

it really does seem a backwards thing, if they want to do limited editions, then do them, just not every damn watch. I can't think of another industry that does this really, without them being limited editions. Even ferrari's you can just go buy their entry one off the lot right now (sure your not getting an FXX but hey)

spoke to their store in geneva, will put me on waitlist (no depost) but couldn't give a time frame

  • That's the whole point. I can walk into any Rolex AD and buy an Oyster Perpetual or any of the Datejust models, but I can't buy anything exotic. Your example is identical. They're clearly trying to promote their brand as limited and to have a feeling of prestige that they've not had in recent years. I agree that it is stupid, though.

  • Porsche have made a very great deal of money from restricting the supply of their GT cars, creating incredible demand for them.

  • exotic

Lol. What a world where a desk diver and a steel GMT are exotic complications.

  • Don’t make me post flags

  • that's actually a great example.

Porsche entry models are available 0 line, 0 effort, 0 mark up.

    GT != entry model

So, why is Rolex's entry model impossible to get (and it's definitely not Exotic!)

  • Erm, what pictures?

  • That's the whole point. Sports models are clearly no longer being designated as 'entry level.' Nor am I saying that I think they're exotic. But they're being branded and marketed as such.

  • Been given the green light to get the Explorer I as a late present for my 30th. Looking for a 214270 mk2 39mm. WoS never have them. @ejay2.0 ? Or other options? :)

  • Yes! If Ejay doesn’t come up trumps and you can find one cheaper online in the U.S. holler at me.

  • We haven't got a spare one .

  • Too big ? Looks huge compared to everything else I have

  • Looks fine to me. Looks good too.

  • It's 42mm right? Looks good to me.

What are your other watches? Bound to be a shock if all 34mm!

  • Although, given that I'm wearing a 50mm watch today, I probably shouldn't offer an opinion.
