This news inspired me to take up digger operator courses.

Interesting detail:
The cash machine is then placed in a van, via a hole cut in its roof, before the thieves make off.
-
• #56154
Yes, it was very bizarre, you can see it in the video, they just slam dunked the ATM on top of the van. I guess it was a stolen one.
Can you drive a van @Oliver Schick ? Asking for a friend.

It's the first time I've heard of that kind of modus operandi--they must have a garage somewhere where they can hide it indefinitely, or maybe a car breaker's workshop, which would also come in handy when opening the ATM.

It's genius. Apparently they stole 9 ATMs the same way.
I like the police reaction:
In a post on social media, however, an officer at PSNI Craigavon said police simply can't predict which cash machine would be targeted next.

If you never sent off the V5, you're totally immune from camera based enforcement.

The DM doing outrage like only the DM can
Love how multinational the comments on a London policy are.

Nice. The more outrage something like this causes, the better. If no one is complaining, it's clearly not doing anything.

This sort of thing just makes you despair:
In separate statements, both declared victory.
“We won! The Israeli public has had their say!” the Blue and White party said. “These elections have a clear winner and a clear loser.”
It urged the Israeli president to “call on the winner to form the next government. There is no other option!”
Netanyahu said his right-wing bloc won a “clear victory.”
“I thank the citizens of Israel for the trust. I will already begin building a right-wing government with our natural partners tonight,” he said.
Israeli exit polls are notoriously imprecise, meaning the final results could still swing in either direction. Official results weren’t expected until Wednesday morning.
Always this 'shaping the narrative' rubbish. Well, it worked for George W. Bush in 2000 ...

Was reading on the news today, that there are foreign ladybirds coming over here, giving British ladybirds STDs.

Erm
sweat bees commonly nest in the mountains and near graves which explained how they had come into contact with He.

She was tending to a family grave. Not so weird. (The bees in eye part is fucking weird tho.)

Missed that part. Thought she was just hanging out in graveyards

My impression is that there is some more nuance to this than what you say. Both of them are dependent on forming a coalition to be able to form a government. I get the impression their boisterous statements are more about telling their potential partners to hurry up if they want to be part of the coalition. It's not the same zero sum game as in Florida 2000.

I'm sure you're right, but surely that's also part of controlling the narrative?
I really just meant to criticise the making of these premature announcements, not what they may have intended to achieve by them.
-
• #56173
It's not a new thing, I saw pics of similar atm removals back in 2002ish when I worked for a high street bank.
