Just received the Steinhart ocean 1 vintage, I was worried it would be too big but I don’t think it is. But I think the dimensions are a bit off. The face looks really big compared to the bezel and the rest of the watch. I think I’ll return it. Shame because it’s really nice.

this has been the status quo for Rolex sport models for a while now

WHAHAHAHA hahaha....
You won't get one rrp...
Been after the Pepsi since it came out. I'm on the waiting list in dubai and multiple ADs across London til they stopped having a waiting list.
You can get it but not less than double the rrp so you may have to accept that's the new price, knowing the rrp or not.
I'm not prepared to pay 15k for it.
Something is only worth what ppl are willing to pay for it.

The power reserve on my Hamilton Khaki Mechanical seems to be reduced. Last couple of winds lasted 33 hours. It's supposed to be 46 hours. It's just over 1 year old. Should I be looking at getting this fixed under warranty?

Free service, why not

• #34532
How's the timekeeping?
-
• #34533
Timekeeping is OK. Will probably look into service. Bit surprising as thought the 2801 movement was fairly robust.
-
• #34534
It is odd. Wondered if it was magnetised but unlikely if keeping time.

We get 15 phone calls a day about Pepsi GMT , and we will probably get 3 this year.
Do the maths . A list is almost irrelevant. -

- Buying another Rolex i.e. Date Just?
- Buying from grey market? $$$?
- Buying another brand?
- Not buying a watch at all?

I really don't know how it works in our Rolex showrooms , I am happy to just be in charge of Preowned.

Will do. LOL

What are prople doing instead?
Would love to know this too.
Although I wonder how many people are now on "lists" or expressing interest because they think that they can immediately sell it at a mark up.
Either way it's working. Rolex have gone from the ubiquitous unoriginal BMW 3 series of the watch world to being super desirable.

I went on the list for the GMT Pepsi. Total waste of time.
Bought a BB58 instead. Still looking for either the GMT or a SS Sub.
For me, it's not about resell but more the knowledge that your asset won't immediately depreciate like a 12 month old car.

The while gold pepsi is easy to get hold of...

I bought another rolex. So they win with this marketing gimmick.
I'm with Dov. Its knowing it won't immediately depreciate like a car.
-
• #34544
This is the thing that throws me. Why does it matter if a luxury watch depreciates?
In case you are in financial trouble and need to liquidate some assets?
Or is it just that we are so used to Asos returns policy that no one anticipates owning anything for more than a year?

The whole thing would make a great uni economics case study.
How can a 2nd hand A. Lange, costing almost double when new, be worth less than a steel 2nd hand Rolex?
Because everyone else in the market believes it will be? It's almost like gold... or a form of currency.

Hype innit. I was in a Rolex boutique the other day because my partner has got it into her head that she wants an OP. Two guys come in. Ask to buy two gold dialed, gold Day Date's on the spot. Sales rep says, wow, sure. They say 'it's just that kinda day.'
Can you imagine two buds going into a Lange store and asking for two 1815 Annual Calendars? I definitely can't. It's the clientele that are attracted to the brand. Rolex is huge. Lange, FP Journe etc. Niche as fuck by comparison.

Should’ve said nicer things.
Dunno if that's a factor, they've only had two steel variants for a while now. It was the black one and the batman for a few years. Now they've dropped the black, and it's batman or pepsi.
