  • adult diapers on

Wouldn't need it. Bike has electronically dispensed and adapted ones automatically

This works as an idea, can get away with using drain pipe.

  • I’ve just realised that a ground anchor is fuck all use when I have an SDS+ breaker in the garage as well. At least there isn’t a grinder...

  • At least there isn’t a grinder...

I'm that guy. Think I'll bring the grinder indoors. Or better still the bike.

  • I've often wondered if you could thread rubber piping through a chain filled with innertube sealant?

Just thinking what would be hard for a grinder to get through / gum up and damage a grinder? Something sticky and wiggly in conjunction with a half decent chain feels like it would cause issues.

  • Haha - genius. I love there's a link to another NYPD flipping a dirt bike in the thread.

2 Stroke dirt bikes kids, approach with caution. Just ask @frank ...

  • So I found the source of my the annoying klunking/rattling noise that started a couple weeks ago and got worse every time I rode the bike...

  • You know, not so much that bolt but the other one that must have fallen out somewhere.

Front brake caliper by the way.

  • Woah!

  • @Markyboy thanks so much! Will report back when we do it in July

  • Look forward to hearing about it

  • After finally getting my rear wheel back in I've been enjoying the Easter holiday traffic and sunshine.

On the way back I was struck by how bumpy the ride was, so went to adjust the dampeners once home.

This is what the drive side looks like

  • Fuck! this is a page of mechanical woe.

  • Well on my settings you've started a new page ,so onwards and upwards.

The thing that kills me is it took the best part of 4 months to have a free afternoon when I could get enough continuous free time to put the wheel on.

Now I've got to, remove part of the exhaust to get to the shock - which is bound to be on there like w bugger. As well as write to tec, see if there's anything they can do.

I mean that doesn't seem right to me. Or do shocks do this ?

  • Well Google has answered that^ question

  • I thought the front brake was good before, took some getting used to on this morning's ride. Has made blipping on downshifts easier when pulling the brake lever with 2 fingers.

  • Did you replace all or just the reservoir?

@hugo7 Sweet Jesus that looks like a nightmare. The hell happened there? Bolt worked it's way loose?
What happened to the oil reservoir on top pic?

  • Did you replace all or just the reservoir?

Just the reservoir but it was cracked.

  • Late 90’s Italian twins...

Ducati 916 or Aprilia RSV Mille?

Tempted by the Aprilia because it’s not a Ducati (and therefore half the price), but a Ducati is a Ducati

  • You rang... although maybe triple the price?

I couldn't afford a 916 although was considering a 999 but the maintenance intervals put me off, and I like spannering. If you'll regret it not being a Ducati you only live once, plus they're not getting any cheaper. If badge doesn't matter I'd say smart money is on the RSV, they do feel special.

  • If truth be told, it’ll probably be the Aprilia. Ridden both and it just felt nicer and a little more forgiving

  • it just felt nicer and a little more forgiving

The 916 must be an animal. If you're not already aware rsvr.net is a great resource.

In my experience they have a fair few known issues to sort (gen 2's more so?) but once addressed they're brilliant. Bags of character (puts £1 in Italian cliché jar).

  • No idea. I assumed it had worked loose. Just to be clear the pics in tect msg form above are pics from someone else's shocks - mine are the previous page.

I've heard people knocking tec on triumphrat before, but always assumed the US version was different.

Still waiting to hear back from them.

Although I'm not confident about using them again. Just really glad I have 2 shocks!

So for budget shocks I'm either thinking YSS or Halgon - any one got any thoughts?

Fundamentally it's an old-fashioned, tubby, under powered bike, so even if i had the budget it would never be getting any flashy.

  • What happened to the oil reservoir on top pic?

The oem scrambler high level exhaust meets rubbing soft material. It was like that when I got it I think. But it's a bit of a design mismatch.
