Went with the 45mm Velo Orange hammered guards. The brake clearance on the front fork is odd (i think due to the positioning of the bolt hole on the fork crown or the fork length) so it was hard to get a good 'fender line' and no rubbing when I first started installing them with the Shimano BR650 long drop caliper. Ended up trying an old Sram Force 10 speed caliper brake which actually seemed to have a better shape for mudguards clearance. The brake blocks were actually sitting at the top of the long drop Shimano caliper so pad placement wasn't an issue.
After that they went on a bit easier. I had some Sheldon fender nuts in the drawer so used these to make installation neater and also used leather washers at all the frame contact points...
Stays trimmed and a Raw flap installed on the rear guard, they were sorted and ready for a short credit card tour.
