I'm in. Thinking of riding out along the River Lee. Looks like you might be able to get all the way to Roydon on the tow path. Could be a little muddy. Likely leaving not long after 5 giving time for a recharge in Roydon if anyone else fancies.
-
• #11
That was my plan exactly!
Copy cat.
-
• #12
Ha! Were you also thinking of riding on a little bit to Hunsdon and having a beer as the sun sets while waiting for the group to pass?
-
• #13
Something like that but more tailored towards having a sit down in the sun by the canal before it sets with a homemade sandwich (coz skint) and then a coffee and piece of cake on the station restaurant veranda...

• #14
(They do beer at the station)

Grand. Was going to cut the corner off a little more, meet you by Spring Hill around 5:45?
-
• #17
Adjusted the route now I'm not gonna be bumbling around all lonely like...
@scrabble 5:45 Spring Hill is good.
@onyerbike good to depart SHS at 5:15?

what sort of surface is that and it looks like its 80% traffic free?!

It's last years favourite surface "gravel" as far as Cheshunt for sure. There were some signifcant puddles last time I did it.
Beyond there, i'm less sure. Could get a bit muddy. Somehow, the towpath is pretty thorough on street view.

Any fool knows the smashfestina back through Epping in the dark is where the real fun is...
-
• #23
Love a smashfesti... oh wait - train beers exist! Wahey.

If you can still pedal after the 10 mile TT you're doing it wrong.

Don't get me wrong, the bottle of Newky Brown on the train back last time was lovely but if it's a nice night I'm up for a ride back.
Now that everybody has been suitably warmed-up over the Five Hills, it's time for the actual Season Opener. Includes:
