I can't imagine inspecting bikes at the rendezvous and saying to some one: "You can't come with us, your handlebar stem is too modern".
All I'd say is that it wouldn't be good manners for a strong rider to turn up on a modern machine and start a tear up (it would be pretty much as bad to do that on an old bike)
