I think it was the dodgy photos and local pick-up only

531 aren't they? Think those forks would have been fully chromed as well. I had a 56cm NOS '79 Competition (531 main triangle only) frame that I never built up. Paid a bit more than £18 for it...

Indeed, full 531, prugnat lugs, Simplex ends.
PX was plain gauge, PY was butted I think
Photos are quite flattering, its a slightly ropey respray. Originally they only did white and metallic yellow but since this one is red and ratty I thought I'd better give it a home.

Nice one.

Yeah, mine was the pearlescent pale yellow, nice colour. I think there were other colours before and after, the yellow was only done for one season IIRC but I can't remember what the other colours were. I researched it a bit but this was ten years ago (!) now.

I got as far as fitting a headset before I sold it on. I’d started collecting some Shimano 600 Arabesque bits, and the funny sized seatpost (it needed 26.4 or something IIRC) but I think I decided it was too small, or I didn’t want a vintage bike, or something.

I've never been so excited about a build.
Needed to finish the build:
- Band on derailleur adaptor
- Gear cable set

Nice that! What wheels?

Did someone convert their hope thru axle hubs to qr? Looking to make wheels fit two frames. Can’t work out if there’s a universal adapter or if they’re hub specific..

• #122843
Cheers, I've always liked them so it's nice to get my hands on one...

Ah yes I remember the arabesque bits. I'll probably go French on this (simplex, t.a. etc) but nothing too fancy... Just a poncy commuter

Yeh, I've got some hope pro 2's with thru Axle I've converted to qr. Nuke proof do one, about 12£ or so

Great! Thanks :-)
And this works both front and rear?
-
• #122848
I've only got it for the front, but I think they're front/rear universal you just need the right size
Edit* so it's the same thing, just a different size -

Is that your OG 853 Talbot?
Right on your doorstep it was too... (Maidenhead)...
