Will be interested in a few weeks as im getting a new frame with a longer HT. Shame because my current ones have just been serviced.

Tempting, but I'm in the Netherlands so wouldn't want you to go through the hassle of shipping. And I want to ride my rigids a while more, maybe.
Thanks for the info all, unless services etc. are mentioned specifically I'll stay away.

Cheers all who responded about Swinley.
Mixed some blue and red trails today, and did a few runs in the downhill zone (not colour marked I think).
Overall it's best to pick and choose your runs, blue and red both have fun sections. It was mostly dry today, more than enough grip.
Definitely not "too rocky" and I wouldn't say there was an excess sharp uphill sections. Just normal XC stuff I guess. -

But did you crash?

I solemnly swear to only crash on Badger rides.

Definitely not "too rocky"
All the rocks in that part of the world have been ground down to a fine drive train and brake destroying sand.

for xc riding around London, is the Ardent or the Ikon a more suitable all round tyre?
-
• #13710
Ardent front Ikon rear would be a fair summer riding combo

Built up a Cotic Bfe Longshot for myself. It's a total fucking machine. Might replace my full sus.

Nice looking beic. Did you take it for a run around Kilvey in the backdrop?
-
• #13716
Haven't gone up there yet, but soon.

The biek sleeps with me. It is precious

Decided against the monstrous full sus thing up thread?
-
• #13719
Yeah. The Deviate is the best full sus I've ever tried, by far. But it's £5800 minimum and is a little bit too big for me. No small size right now.

I'm likely going to check out Swinley at the weekend. Does anyone want to join me and/or what do I need to know beforehand?
-
• #13721
That's a pity- looked and sounded like an awesome ride.

It's a great bike. Almost revolutionary in terms of suspension performance and handling. But the fit does make a difference for me, especially on the steep stuff where the seat tube is too long.
Maybe they'll do a small size soon, they have the provisional geo charts for one.

I bought some 29er wheels (Fulcrum Red Power 700) thinking it'd be an easy job to convert them to QR front and rear but it turns out it'll cost me about £60 in adaptors. The fulcrum wheels were £180, so before I order the convertors are there any other options open to me for about £240 that would be better? Front 100QR, rear 135QR, tubeless, shimano, disc, 29"
thanks!
Working up to that
