  • Yes, leave brake on overnight after.

  • My dad is getting a KTM 1290 or a GS1200, and I want to get him a chain for it when it's in the garage. Any recommendations of what to get and where from please?
Also, is there a thread or has anyone done any touring of the Scottish Highlands?
    Cheers

  • Toured the Scottish highlands nearly 20 years ago and had a fantastic time. Will try to dredge my memory for the route I took.

  • Currently in my garage

  • Storing it for a friend. I have keys, fob, etc. and an open invitation to ride it, but don’t trust myself...

  • @Markyboy that'd be great, cheers. Thinking going to Fort William, Isle of Skye and places on that side

  • @bobble done that lots in car, normally to Fort William for racing.

The Fort has several fuel stations and keen pricing because of that.
There was a co-op fuel station on Skye in main town which was average price wise.
The further out you get the price goes up, and expect quirky opening hours and maybe closed on sundays. Some of the islands prices made Motorway services look cheap, but then it's an island with ferry only access.
The Alpinesque pass over to Applecross is a must do and there was an automated card only fuel bunker near the pub.
If your bike is a thirsty one, carry extra fuel and get to know how far you can go on a tank, and how far reserve will get you. Fill up where you can.
would love to do the Islands on a vespa one day.

  • And take a midge net....

Nothing worse than running out of petrol and having to walk for fuel with no midge net....

  • Totally. They're astonishing machines but I don't think I have anywhere near the skill or restraint to ride one on the road.

I am seriously considering an 899 as a summer bike now I've got a garage though...

  • Ktm all day.

And I like pragmasis. They sell ground anchors too. Good people.

  • I agree, How will the bike be chained in the garage?

  • honestly fuck the bimmer, get a KTM. I am biased. But still, be a hooligan.

KTM riders never wear those 'polite' vests.

  • They are nice to ride, but do need to have the suspension tweaked to the rider.

  • Those 'polite' vest are worn by a certain kind of person.

  • gound anchor?

  • Ive got a faulty fuel injector unit on my honda zoomer scooter, from research its a buy a new one and replace. Is there anyone in the UK that can fix these type of things or should I just bite the bullet and buy a new one at £300 :(

  • My route was something like this:

    London to Edinburgh
    Edinburgh to Loch Lomond
Loch Lomond to Fort William via Glencoe
Fort William to Mallaig and onto Skye via the ferry
Off Ske via the bridge and on to Applecross and Torridon
Up the coast to Ullapool then across to Inverness
Inverness to St Andrews and back to Edinburgh
    Edinburgh to London

    The highlights for me:

Coming over the top of the Applecross pass in the clouds and down into the bay bathed in bright sunshine, and a nice lunch in the pub there. The pass has some tight turns that my Ducati didn't have the turning lock for...
Riding over Glencoe in late afternoon light
Fish and chips on the front in Portree, but make sure you have midge spray on

  • Almost finished unpainting the external layer of non original paint on this.

  • Yeah I feel like I should qualify my longer run of lessons with the fact that I was also 21 and not so good at tying everything together 😳

  • Oof. That does look delightful. I can understand hesitation, but would be well worth taking something like that out for a spin. Roads aren't too great, so maybe that'll keep things cool?

  • Traction control on, ABS on, adult diapers on, check.

    Give it a spin!
