Storing it for a friend. I have keys, fob, etc. and an open invitation to ride it, but don’t trust myself...

Totally. They're astonishing machines but I don't think I have anywhere near the skill or restraint to ride one on the road.
I am seriously considering an 899 as a summer bike now I've got a garage though...

Oof. That does look delightful. I can understand hesitation, but would be well worth taking something like that out for a spin. Roads aren't too great, so maybe that'll keep things cool?
