Neither has the capacity to accommodate a 2x (other than a very old-school half-step) with such a large range cassette, and a Wolftooth does not change that. For a 1x set-up, the GS needs less hanger extension to fit the dinner plate, so it should be slightly less shit changing at the top assuming there are different lengths of wolves' teeth available to make either RD work at all

I'm sure I've seen people running 2x w/ MTB cassettes (@frank9755) otherwise I'd not have bought it.

I've now got one of the newer RDs

The 8050 has another 2 teeth of total capacity compared with the 6870, but it's still only 39T, so with your 11-40, the maximum difference between chainrings would be 10T. If you used the 6870 and 11-42, that would narrow to just 6T, i.e. a half-step

I was running a 32/46 combo last year. I could customise the cassette so the high gears aren't so high. I still don't get how the other guys have set theirs up.

You just don't use the 17t and below on the cassette when in the little ring, I presume.

Opinions on bb30 crank (Sram Rival) on a BSA BBed frame?
I know of the possibility of bsa30 bottom brackets.
Any cons? Longetivity?

Of course the safe route would be to go gxp but the bb30 cranks are a whole bunch lighter and I like the thought.

Anyone comment on bike fits they've had to help me choose please? Any info about where, how much, what they did and how useful you found it would be really helpful. I'm trying to decide between a budget and an expensive fit and hear recommendations all the time but have no idea of the actual difference. Thanks

The "BB30" cranks which are really 386Evo are fine, they use normal BB30 bearings in cups which screw into a BSC shell just like GXP or HT2 but a bit bigger. True BB30 cranks in a BSC shell should be avoided like the plague.

AFAIK, SRAM "BB30" cranks except Red Exogram are really 386Evo and use spacers to take up the slack when installed in BB30 or BBRight shells.

28.6mm is the next size down, to suit most old-school steel seat tubes. There's a cheap aluminium one which comes with lots of different names on the packaging but they all seem to be the same (so support a fellow forumenger), or a #buyer Parlee carbon fibre one.

SRAM 30mm axles are a poorly documented shit show, if you want something which will definitely work in a 68mm BSC shell, stick to GXP (or better still get a Shimano crank🙂)

Purchased (hardly used second hand) by my pal but he's a little worried it may be an imitation.
Main areas of concern:
No weight written on underside (115g on scales)
The horizontal central line of the 'A' of Aspide on the nose doesn't link to the right/diagonal.
The finish where the rails meet the nose on the underside

Anyone got one they can compare?
