  • Yeah, i like the look of the MKS Ezy Superior Allways too.

But neither of them have UK stockists? When are SJS going to sort me out!?

    (+time style MKS ezy superior)

  • UK supplier is frustrating and says there is no demand / simply doesn’t get back to me...

  • That sucks.

I just put the wider Joseph kourouac bars on, feels like a different bike! Feels like a bike that will actually be pleasant to ride!

  • Hell yea! Makes it amazing right? I just found too much sweep back so made t feel a little short. Got some 5deg lite pro ones for £11! (580mm)

  • Not much of a fix is it? I’ve put fenders on anyway so not an issue at all for now. Thanks for sharing!

  • I have Ti Parts pedals on mine.
    They are small.
I'm surprised that I haven't banjaxed the tiny bearings in ~3 years (weekend shopping use only - not commuting) use.
They are painful to use (other than for short rides) in anything other than thick-soled / stiff shoes.
They're kind of ok with my Scarpa walking boots.

  • It’s the cover of a 3 speed tensioner, it’s worse as it’s genuinely unsafe. Brompton sales rep didn’t even reply to my email raising this

  • With the stock tyres? Brompton told a customer you couldn’t because of tyre clearance... idiots.

  • Yes, all stock. I used standard black fenders from you at SJS. Rear fits perfect, front only has about 4-5mm clearance which is why I'm guessing Brompton are playing it safe.
Not really an issue for where I ride mine 90% of the time but will definitely keep an eye on it.
Hopefully another dry summer ahead and they will be coming off anyway.

  • Plenty of clearance!

    Thanks for info

  • I bought a couple of these for trips abroad.

  • Do you use the pins on them to give you some grip?

  • See @maynardeames link. I’ve got the H&H version (which was twice the price) and the wife has the SJS one. Both recommended.

  • I do use the pins, and with rubber soled shoes grip isn't an issue.

  • Neat, what are those?

  • Thanks! will get one of those then

  • Evans classic....

Confidential news update this week, nice work Evans!

    Edit. Embargo until 04/04/19

    Yes...

Blue, 3 speed only, old brake levers and shifter, old brakes, old bar and stem, no mudguards, extended post, only m type...

By the time you update to current stem/bar/shifters it’s over M6l cost...

  • I don't mind another train journey if that's a thing.

edit - wait hang on you have newer style brake bits and stuff for a tiny bit more

  • It's the Polaris Folding Bike Pod. It's been used a few times and seems really quite good and sturdy. It also is light enough to stuff a load of other stuff in the gaps with plenty of space. We use them for riding around on holiday and everything fits in there and a backpack with a 23kg luggage allowance. Photo below of adventure in Italy!

  • Yes this is legit, got 3 coming in soon.

But yes, you can get a new components model for not much more

  • We use them for riding around on holiday and everything fits in there and a backpack with a 23kg luggage allowance.

When I did a trip in Europe, I used a soft bag for the Eurostart, then spent the rest of the time carrying it. What did you do with your bag?

  • Dear Brompton Owners - HELP!

My wife wants to buy a Brompton for her daily commute from East to Central. Unlikely to use it for much else, maybe the occasional local Sunday jolly. She carries a massive suitcase-sized handbag.

Apart from needing a front rack and mudguards, what else do i need to know about buying a Brompton???

I've tried to convince her to go SS but i think she wants a 3-speed. Any reason to go for 6-speed?

What are the other options, apart from bars and saddle?

And does it matter where I buy?

all sensible suggestions and help welcome.

  • I've found the 'easy guide' with all the options. More straight-forward than I thought.

  • Front carrier block + bag = essential. Ignore the rear rack.

Don’t buy it from Evans, it probably won’t be built properly....

6 speed is the fastest, hardly any weight penalty against a 3 and you will mostly have the gear you want. I rode 2 speed for a long time but back to 6 and I don’t regret it!

My OH went 6,3,6 and is happy again.

    100% mudguards.

Go to a good local dealer, have her test all 4 handlebar types, then go through every option.

Ergon grips out the box, I’ll happily cut some to suit the M/H type via sjscycles.co.uk if you message me.

    If you not sure, ask.

Blatant spam - sjscycles.co.uk have some discounted healthily right now, also will build anything you want from a few changes, custom paint, black editions to Rohloff and disc brakes...
