Yeah you're probably right. Maybe even a little franken in there. Certainly not out of place here though

Does anyone know the rear spacing of the Triban Rc's, 135mm?
-
• #7629
Might be in vain, but keep on checking the websites, sizes do seem to reappear, whether that's down to restock or returns am unsure.

No recall notice for my Secan, or for to a mate for his. Maybe just a batch.
-
• #7631
Just add, emailed the designer, Dom at Fairlight about this. Apparantly they discovered micro cracks in one fork, so pulled that batch and requested recall on any shipped to be on the safe side. No fork has actually failed. Other batches unaffected.
(Still loving the bike!). -
• #7632
a pal of mine has had two subsequent fork failures on their secan
-
• #7633
Actually snap?
-
• #7634
i don't think the damage was that bad. I can give you his instagram account if you want to get in touch with him.

Cheers, have flagged this to Dom Thomas, think best he answers comments directly. Have offered to quote in interim if doesnt have log in.
I havent had any issues with mine and its one of the best bikes I have ridden, including some that cost an awful lot more, so would hate for people to get the wrong idea and a small Uk brand to suffer unfair damage because of this.
Edit: Fairlight are sending out emails today (Friday), and putting a statement up on their website. I will share a link when I see it

Agreed.
Every brand ever has a “bad” batch or an error etc.
Emails sent with info etc, open and honest, I see no reason to fault the brand or look at them negatively.
Brompton recalled 150,000 bikes for a BB replacement...
The Kinesis fork recall..
Probably every company out there at some point.
-
• #7637
all fair comments, especially when you consider that a lot of different companies all use the same fork manufacturers!

Brompton recalled 150,000 bikes for a BB replacement
to be fair it wasn't really a recall, they just offered people a new BB for free (even though most of the ones i ended up replacing weren't even the 'recalled' ones anyway)
-
• #7639
But yeah i agree some people are slightly over reacting to this. Specialized did a huge recall of the newer Allez, retailers had to stop selling them immediately and call up anyone they'd sold one to and tell them their forks probably will explode

For anyone who is interested, I have fitted a SunRace 11-40 cassette to a small CdF running Tiagra 4700 with a 50-34 chainset. I used a road link and the full 116 links in the new chain.
It seems to work well and doesn't sound hideous in the big-big combo and although it's not ideal, there is no chain rub in small-small.
-
• #7641
If you find it not shifting that well, go for the shimano 11-40t cassette instead.
-
• #7642
Do they exist in 10s? I could only find a shimano 11-42t.

Got my green Vitus and I'm loving it, but I need to go tubeless ASAP because the WTB Crossboss tyre is so tight on the WTB rim that it would be a nightmare to change a tube at the roadside.

Cycle to work voucher should be sorted early next week so will put my order in with Evans immediately. Looking forward to taking the woods route home from work twice, realising its bloody hard work and putting slick tyres on and going back to the same commute i've done for the last 3 years
-
• #7645
What are you getting? Some big slicks will be great in the woods and comfy on the road. No need for knobblies unless you’re really heading for the trails
-
• #7646
I ride a lot of gravel and forest trails on Schwalbe Big Apples which are very close to completey slick. Unless you're going to ride through a lot of mud a lot of the time, you'll be able to get very far with wide tyres with low pressure.

• #7647
Don't forget the future shock stuff as well.
-
• #7648
oh yeah, that
-
• #7649
arkose d1. knobblies prob end up in the garage gathering dust. im fat and slow so some comfy 35c slicks are also going on the order

Panaracer pasela are my current fav!
This is definitely more in the spirit of the Monsteur thread.
